Introduction of national Poet, Ramdhari Singh ‘Dinkar’

Poet, Ramdhari Singh 'Dinkar' Ji Ki Jivani In English  Poet Ramdhari Singh Dinkarji, an energetic singer of national sentiments, was born on 30 September 1908 in Simariya village of Munger district under the state of Bihar. He did his B.A. in 1933 from Patna College. Did it and then became a teacher in a school. After that, he became Sub Registrar in Sitamarhi. In the Second World War, he came to the State Propaganda Department. In those days India was ruled by the British and no employee of the English company could do anything against that government. Dinkar wrote works filled with the spirit of patriotism, full of sympathy for the victims and awakening the spirit of revolution even during the period of state service.

In 1950, he was appointed as the Head of the Hindi Department of Post Graduate College, Muzaffarpur. In 1952, he was nominated as a member of the Rajya Sabha and started living in Delhi. Dinkar’s poetic practice continued. In 1961, his very famous poem ‘Urvashi’ was published. In 1964, he was made a consultant to the Central Government’s Hindi Committee. After retiring from this post, he started living in Patna. The death of his young son suddenly broke this dynamic personality and Dinkar ji passed away on April 24, 1974, in Chennai, dedicating his sad story to the Tirupati Devavigraha.

Some of his main works:

Since the beginning, Dinkar has been loyal to the public, aware of social responsibility, and dedicated to the people. That’s why he spread the light of Renuka by not composing poetry like shadowy poets. Then her soft personality was revealed in the form of Raaswanti, the romantic singer. But the sound adverse circumstances of the country pulled the poet from the colorful world of sentimentality, imagination, and dreams and brought him to the rough ground, and made him a strong supporter of the exploitation of the people and their hungry children. His life flourished as a dynamic singer of Muktiraag.

In order to remove the inconsistencies that Dinkar’s rebellious personality showed in the mythological narratives of his country, he composed stories like ‘Kurukshetra‘, and ‘Rashimrathi’. The first composition Kurukshetra is actually not a story poem but a thought poem, because the conflict between the ideologies of violence and non-violence has been displayed in it.

In ‘Rasimrathi‘ there is a narrative of the famous hero Karna as the son of a thread. Dinkar, the poet of Jagrut Purusharth, considers impotence and indolence spreading under the guise of peace-loving and non-violence as fatal for both the individual and the nation. This intense form of his personality got ignited at the time of the Chinese invasion and he presented the title ‘परशुराम की प्रतीक्षा‘ challenging the countrymen.

The culmination of Dinkar’s poetic talent is seen in his dramatic story ‘Urvashi‘. The story of this work has been taken from Kalidas’s play ‘Vikramovershiyam’, but its presentation is attested to by modern perception. Pirurva’s affectionate request today in the constitution of Muktachand presents free consciousness in a very powerful form. Although the answer given by Urvashi is the language of emotion, yet the voice of today’s conscious woman is loud in it.

Apart from giving voice to his rebellious attitude and aesthetic consciousness, Dinkar has also given expression to some other trends in his compositions, in his collection ‘नीम के पत्ते’, there is a sharp satire on today’s politicians. There is the resonance of some new experimental poems in English in ‘आत्मा की आंख‘.

After this effort, Dinkar himself also did some experiments in this direction. Due to the problems and disasters of personal and family life and due to the death of his young son, due to the harshest shock of life, his powerful, domineering and mind-blowing personality came out after breaking down and melting into small poems. His last poetry collection ‘हारे को हरिनाम‘ is the petition of such a compassionate, disappointed, humble, eager soul.

All races are included in his poetry but Veer rasa is predominant. The illustration is soulful and each word of the poem is attractive. His compositions are in Khariboli. Along with similar words in Sanskrit, the use of popular words of Urdu-Persian is also found in the language. He has mostly used modern words. His style is a vigorous management style, through which he has expressed opposition to capitalism and the spirit of nationalism.
